When you’re part of a small business, you find yourself in a David and Goliath situation from time to time. Today is one of those days. I got a call from my brother Houston, who is the CEO of Liberty Autos, and he informed me of a surprising new development. When you go to google and type in “liberty auto sales,” the first thing that comes up is a link that looks like it belongs to Liberty Auto Sales, but it actually is to hondadealers.com. We can’t spend millions of dollars on advertising and social media, so our web presence is the direct result of the hard work of a handful of people. To come to the office and find that a giant has casually knocked you from a place that is rightfully yours, that you have worked hard to reach, can be quite dispiriting. Houston found out that Honda is able to do this because the name Liberty Auto Sales is not trademarked, a process which takes 6 months and  requires an attorney. The fact that this mega-corporation is directly targeting small businesses really rubs me the wrong way. And we have sold hundreds of Hondas over the years!! So, just like that, we learned the next hurdle that we have to jump. And that’s exactly what we’ll do, we will clear every stumbling block that comes our way. Liberty has been here 37 years, because we never let an obstacle stand in our way. We’ll keep doing it every day so that we can keep bringing good cars to the Houston market every day. Come to any of our four locations, and you’ll experience our great service while also supporting a local business.

I just wanted to share this Kia Rio! It’s miles are SO low (35K), and it’s a 2017. Priced at $10,995, this sporty sedan won’t last long. Kia named this color Signal Red, and I can’t get enough of it! It’s back to school time again! In no time. we’ll be trick or treating with our kids, baking pumpkin pies, then shopping for the holidays. It’s Rodeo time again in Houston! We look forward all year to the month of March when we can listen to some of our favorite musicians, crack up at the calf scramble, watch the bull-riding, act like crazy kids at the carnival, and eat till our belts bust! As much as we love the Rodeo, we know that it can get expensive and be difficult to navigate. Your friends at Liberty have put together some tips and tricks for how to get through the Rodeo with less hassle and more money in your pocket.

Value Wednesday

Most people have no idea that Wednesdays are actually the cheapest days to attend the Livestock Show and Rodeo! Admission to the grounds is $5 for Adults and free for Seniors and kids 12 and under! The Wednesday night concerts are also the cheapest!

Tickets

People often make the mistake of buying both a concert ticket and paying for admissions to the grounds. When you buy your concert ticket, it includes access to all of the Livestock show grounds and carnival!

Carnival

Through February 28, you can buy carnival tickets at half price on the Rodeo Houston website! https://secure.rodeohouston.com/carnivaltickets/Order.aspx Get your Carnival tickets in advance to save money and beat those lines!

Getting to the Rodeo

Everyone knows that parking at the Rodeo can be a real headache. It can be either a long walk and tram ride, or it can be pretty pricey. Many Houstonians are learning that taking the METRORail is a fun way to get to the Rodeo. It drops you off at the front door of the NRG Center and costs $1.25 each way. We at Liberty love this option since it protects your vehicle from the concerns a driver has about parking in large lots that are often unsupervised.
